The Beginning of Infinity by Jason Silva
Oh man, remember that one time I was telling this guy I used to be friends with about a RIDICULOUSLY SEXIST comment a Wellesley professor made, and then said guy’s response was “It was probably just a joke”?
Why yes, cis white dude, I’m sure your understanding of this incident transcends the experience of all the students who were present.
I decided to visit your Tumblr page today, only to find a vaguely familiar anecdote and a few strangely hyperbolic comments. After reading what you’d written I felt obligated to respond: (1) I never claimed to have “faultlessly clear” knowledge of the speaker’s tone, intent, or state of mind (which should have been obvious from my use of the word “probably”). (2) I did not attempt to excuse his remark, I merely suggested he was being facetious (although the very idea that such a subject is fit for humor shows a severe cultural detachment). And (3) Me being a white “cis-male” does not invalidate my opinion. My ethnicity and gender association have nothing to do with the validity of what I say. Only if my opinions are poorly articulated, unreasonable, or delusional do you have the right to dismiss them.

A brilliant talk on the illusory nature of free will.
NASA Faces Trial Over Alleged Discrimination Against Intelligent Design Proponent

Regardless of the allegations of harassment, this man deserved to be fired (or at the very least demoted) for his scientific and intellectual incompetence. Admittedly, firing people for their beliefs may not be the best policy for NASA, but it’s unlikely that this was even a case of religious discrimination. According to NASA, David Coppedge is among 246 employees who were laid off last year due to budget cuts.
